What Is It?
Hair fall is a common problem, irrespective gender, men or women and it deteriorates the overall look and physical personality of them. Though there are numerous causes are there, primary cause is androgenetic alopecia that is programmed genetically. There are various secondary causes, such as environment, hormonal, nutritional, etc. When the problem is severe, it may result in balding, which is severe for men and less severe for women.
How It Is Done?
Basically hair transplantation surgery is performed on the ‘Donor Dominance’ principle. Usually, hair continues to grow at the back and side parts, in the entire life of a person, though severe hair loss is the problem. this hair is resistant, because of the influence of the hormones. Hair can be transplanted in the area of bald and there is no doubt that this hair is continued to grow naturally and he can style the hair, trim and wash the hair as he wishes to. Over 4000 to 5000 grafts or more can be harvested, as permitted by this donor area. This harvesting of new hair can be done in one session or in multiple sessions.
There are majorly two advanced methods used in contemporary world for transplantation of new hair.
- Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
The method of FUE, micro punches are made with the diameter from 0.8 to 1 mm, by extracting follicular units one after another, from the back part of the scalp. These punches are quite small and are not visible and stitches are not needed after the transplantation and these punches are healed in a few days. Pain after the procedure is negligible and day to day activities can be resumed in or after 2 days.
- Advanced Follicular Unit Extraction
Advanced FUE is also referred as Bio-Stimulated FUE hair transplantation procedure. The procedure involves basically transplantation of hair as done with the Follicular Unit Extraction process and then platelet rich plasma therapy is also performed simultaneously. The objective of this therapy is to enhance the residual hair along with the transplanted hairs. This therapy is given through the presence of high factors concentration injected near the roots of the hair directly. It results in stimulation of the stem cells. Own blood of the patient is the resource to extract these growth factors.
As the balding and age are progressed, future sessions may be needed for hair transplantation. After hair transplantation also, there is less likely prediction of actual pattern of loss of hair and hence further hair loss is also possible.
There are majorly three benefits of hair transplantation usually,
- Viability of hair follicle is preserved and enhanced further during and after the procedure of transplantation of the hair.
- Tissue repair as well as healing can be promoted and enhanced once the transplantation procedure is completed.
- Dominant hair follicles are reinvigorated and stimulated for growth of the new hair.
